INTEGRITY OVERRIDES CIRCUMSTANCE by Tommy Tenney

“God will gladly sacrifice your comfort to develop your character.”
The Ultimate Comeback Pg 53

Scripture Reading
“… but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulations produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
Romans 5:3-4

Do you realize that God will gladly humiliate you into obedience if that is what it takes to help you? Why? Because He loves you that much. He wants the very best for you, even when you see no hint of it in your circumstances.

God is more interested in your character than He is in your comfort. God will gladly sacrifice any comforts you have if it will increase your character. Like a gardener, He constantly cuts back and prunes away “branches,” even if it hurts at the time. He knows that what will develop is much greater than what is now.

When the Syrian general, Naaman, was told to dunk in the muddy river in order to be healed of leprosy, it was definitely outside of his comfort zone. We can almost hear him saying, “I’d rather keep my leprosy than dunk in that filthy muck”.

It was then when one of the Syrian general’s lowly servants stood up an said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, “wash and be clean?”.

It would have been much easier for Naaman if he had been commanded to slay one hundred Philistines. As an army general, that would have been all too easy. Instead he was asked to dip himself in the muddy, murky waters and believe that this was actually going to cure him of his incurable disease.

Dressed in his finest formal attire, he stepped out of his comfort zone and emerged into the questionable waters. We all know what the result was…he was completely healed of his leprosy!

God is more interested in where you will end up than where you are right now. If our humiliation is necessary to bring us to our destination, then God will allow it.
I challenge you to search your heart. Are you willing to do what it takes?
